My name is Amel Agabani and I am
pursuing a career in Air Cargo Industry. Flying had always been my passion.
When I was three years old I would play with airplanes instead of Barbie dolls.
When I got to high school I knew flying is what I want to do for living. The
only problem is there are no flight schools where I grew-up (Sudan). The
government of Sudan sends only men out of the country to receive flight
training. I had a hope one day I will make it to the United State, the land of
opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming the first Sudanese women pilot.
After freshmen year in high school my mother brought the family to United State.
Right when I landed in Dulles International Airport, I looked out the window
knowing that my dream became a reality.
Thanks to the founders and constitution
of United States, my gender is no longer rejected from the sky. Jacksonville
University in Jacksonville Florida accepted me to be part of the best aviation
program in America. Professors at Jacksonville University are giving me the
best knowledge to prepare me to face real life situations. I believe with the tremendous
education I receive and my growing passion for aviation I will succeed in the
Air Cargo Industry. I do understand my learning process does not end after
graduating college; therefore I will challenge myself to seek every opportunity
to expand my experience and lead a safe sky.

America has to offer, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish.” Geraldine Ferraro
