I spent my childhood in Iasi, Romania before attending Samford University as an undergraduate. I worked briefly as an actuarial analyst before starting graduate school.
I earned my PhD in mathematics from Duke University in 2011, where I worked under Mauro Maggioni to develop a new multiscale method for estimating the intrinsic dimension of a data set.
I became an assistant professor of mathematics at Jacksonville University in 2012. I have two small children, a spouse, and a dog. I love to travel and to be outside.
