The crucial goal of all my courses is to create an environment where you, as the student, can begin to feel comfortable taking responsibility for your own education

I VALUE MY HONOR AS A PRECIOUS PART OF WHO I AM. WHEN I SIGN MY NAME, OTHERS MAY KNOW THAT THE WORK CONTAINED THEREIN IS MY OWN. I WILL NOT GIVE OR RECEIVE UNAUTHORIZED AID ON CLASS REQUIREMENTS, NOR WILL I TOLERATE OTHERS TO DO SO.

JOURNAL 3 QUESTIONS

Read the material above and McNeill, The Human Community: World Reactions to Europe’s Expansion 1700 to 1850 and answer the following questions in your journal.
1. The way the non-European world responded to increasing European domination and modernization fell into patterns, representing a range of responses. In general, how did the Hindu and Buddhist worlds, China, and Japan react to these incursions?
2. A particular flash point in today’s world concerns the modernization of the Islamic world. How did the Islamic peoples react to Europe and modernization from 1700 to 1850. Do you see any roots of today’s difficulties in that reaction?
