Architecture and Fractals

Eiffel Tower
Mandelbrot (1982) hypothesized that the Eiffel tower was built using deliberate fractal curves.1
An organic, fractal quality can be seen in the intricate baroque carvings of the Paris Opera House . 2
In contrast, the block structures of modern architecture seem cold and lifeless. "It is entirely conceivable that the low level of fractal complexity in modern inner cities is a strong contributing factor to the high incidence of depression reported in these kinds of environment."2
