The National Science Foundation's Calculus Initiative (1987-1994)
Highlights of the NSF's calculus initiative:
One hundred and twenty seven projects were awarded to 110 institutions.
Awards ranged from $1,500 per year to $570,283 per year (usually awarded for one or two years)
Objectives deemed important in the projects: Computer use/laboratory experience, applications, and conceptual understanding.
Pedagogical techniques most often cited include technical writing, discovery learning, and cooperative learning.
This spurred multitudes of conference presentations, journal articles, and workshops.
